How to Be a Toddler Model

ToddlerFor all you readers who have young toddlers, we wanted to make a special article for you. Your child has reached an age where their interests are starting to show. Some are already trying to dance or throw a ball. Does your toddler like to express themselves? If so, they may want to try modeling.

Toddler modeling is a growing market. It does take some effort though. Here are some things to think about when considering toddler modeling.

What Do I Need to Do?

Make Sure Modeling is Right

If a child does not feel comfortable modeling, do not force them into it. See how your child reacts to cameras. Take practice pictures to see how photogenic your toddler is.

If your child is initially uncomfortable with a camera in front of them, try taking just a few pictures and show them to your toddler. Usually toddlers like to see themselves and as soon as they realize the camera is used to make a photo of them, they will want more.

Put Together a Portfolio

It doesn’t take a professional photographer to bring out a child’s potential. If a toddler is photogenic, a few well-taken photos from home will do. An agency will usually be able to tell if a toddler is photogenic or not no matter how fancy the photo.

Find an agent

Just like any other kind of modeling, toddler modeling requires that you have an agent. An agent will help your toddler get modeling jobs with magazines and ad companies.

Finding an agent may seem difficult but it really isn’t. All you need to do is find a directory of local agencies and send them photos of your toddler along with a brief introduction letter.

One important thing to remember is that legitimate modeling agencies will not ask you to pay them beforehand. They get their money from commissions after the pictures are already sent and published. Avoid agencies that ask for money before they even start working.

Is it Worth it?

Getting your toddler into modeling can be time consuming. The initial costs, however, can be very minimal. If your child is one of those who is constantly getting compliments from strangers and is very comfortable around different people and environments, modeling just may be right for them.

There are millions of toddlers who’s parents would love for them to be in modeling. It’s competitive. But in the end, it is usually a good experience for the parent and the child.
